Fight Stress & Anxiety with Exercise
Anxiety, Exercise, Panic Away Bonus Package, Stress Add commentsAdding a bit of exercise to your morning routine can cut down on your stress and anxiety plus give you a more positive outlook for the day ahead. When we do any form of physical activity the oxygen flow in our bodies increases and stimulates the nervous system. This helps put us in a relaxed state of calm and makes it easier to deal with stressful and anxious situations.
We need as little as 10 minutes of moderate exercise to release those wonderful endorphins that help eliminate stress and anxiety. Endorphins are hormones that help give us a mental state of well-being. This can also help us have a more positive self-image, provide a diversion from stress or anxiety, and help motivate us to be more positive.
Some tips to get going:
- Choose an activity you enjoy, that way you won’t dread doing it
- Make it a social thing, you’re less likely to talk yourself out of it
- Start slow and build up as your fitness increases
- Try to do it at least 3-4 times a week, you’ll soon be reaping the benefits of feeling less stressed and anxious!
If you can’t make it part of a routine then simply get outside and walk a bit. Sometimes just some fresh air and a bit of walking will help that anxiety from creeping up and taking over.
